A lot has been said about Jennifer Aniston’s Salad, the one she ate while at the set of FRIENDS. Many say that it had quinoa and plenty of veggies and well, but the reality is a bit far from that. It’s a delicious, flavour-packed Cobb salad and I’ll give you the recipe as told by her in an interview with Allure.
Jennifer Aniston’s Salad
Jennifer Aniston’s Salad refers to the one she ate while at the set of FRIENDS. She says that it’s a cobb salad made at the commissary that they “basically butchered.” She added more ingredients to make it tastier, basically. It’s actually a salad with lots of ingredients and the flavour is incredible. She also had it with Italian dressing, which is one that I share on my post 10 dressings to liven up your salads.
Ingredients in Jennifer Aniston’s Cobb Salad
- Cubed chicken: here I took a bit of creative license and made a quick lemon, salt and pepper marinade for the chicken. Then I pan-fried it, let it cool down, cut it into cubes and added it to the salad.
- Bacon: this is another component that requires cooking. I cook bacon in a pan without any extra fat until it’s very golden. At that point, I remove it from the pan, let it cool down and cut it up.
- Salami: since it has a strong taste, it helps to lift up the flavour of the salad and it’s a really good addition.
- Chickpeas: cooked chickpeas are a quick and easy ingredient to add to the salad. This ingredient also makes Jennifer Aniston’s cobb salad more substantial.
- Lettuce: the base of the salad is iceberg lettuce. It’s a fresh and crispy lettuce which you can also swap for any other leaves you prefer.
- Tomato: another fresh addition to the salad. You can use a chopped tomato like me or swap for cherry tomatoes and slice them in half.
- Pecorino cheese: Pecorino cheese is Parmesan’s cheese stronger cousin. If you can’t find any, you can swap it for Parmesan.
Italian dressing
Italian dressing is really easy to make and complements Jennifer Aniston’s salad perfectly. It has a mayonnaise base so the result is very creamy, a real treat. By adding ingredients such as garlic powder and dried oregano, it’s extremely tasty and works perfectly with the cobb salad. My favourite whisk for dressings and small mixing requirements is this one by GIR.
